Abstract
In a world where financial markets play a central role, financial crises are regarded as one of the worst mishaps to which the global economy can clash. In 2008 the whole world faced the most crucial financial crisis of its history after the so-called Black Thursday of 1929.
In this essay, after briefly outlining the leading causes of the 2008 financial crisis, I will focus more on the measures taken by both the Federal Reserve and the Government to tackle the crisis. My goal is to show how, thanks to the cooperation between economic institutions and political institutions, the USA has emerged after one of the most acute financial crises of recent centuries.
